Kristy + Jonathan :: They’re Engaged + Awesome

I really like engagement sessions. I really REALLY like engagement sessions with people like Kristy + Jonathan who took a bit of a creative spin on their session. Balloons? Check. Giant purple petticoat? Check. Red suspenders and a bow tie? Check. Happy photographer? Check!

We started Kristy + Jonathan’s session at a downtown park, but ended up cruising around the beaches area for some fun and colourful shots. We had a blast!

Couples, if you are feeling uninspired or nervous about your engagement session, think creative! Think colour! Think theme! Sometimes it’s easier to loosen up when you’re wearing a giant petticoat

Tanya + Greg :: The Ceremony, The Portraits, The Amazing Reception!

I blogged Tanya + Greg’s getting-ready images yesterday, and couldn’t wait to show you the rest of this gorgeous wedding. If you missed it yesterday, check out their prep images here, otherwise feast your eyes on their fabulous Beach ceremony, their portraits at the Brickworks, and the reception at Balzac’s Cafe.

Tanya + Greg wanted an intimate ceremony with just a few friends and family members in attendance. Beachers themselves, they decided to hold their ceremony at the gazebo at Kew Gardens Park. A risky choice for October in Toronto, but the day was lovely, and the leaves were breath taking.

I love Tanya + her enthusiasm for life. Doesn’t she just glow?

We hastily made our way to the Don Valley Brickworks after the ceremony to squeeze in a few portraits before it got too cold. Tanya wore a vintage fur stole to keep her warm. Her vintage-inspired look worked perfectly with her hair and make up by Ivy Lam. Basically, she worked it!

Apres portraits, we arrived at our final destination :: Balzac’s Cafe in the Distillery District (also known as My Mothership. I spend more time at Balzac’s than I should. The staff know my order and start making it when I walk in the door. Clearly I have a problem.) I hadn’t shot at Balzac’s before, but it is a STUNNING venue for an intimate reception.

Tanya + Greg were piped in by two very awesome pipers. What an entrance!

Oh, the romance. Tanya + Greg, you two are top-knotch. I wish you all the best — thank you for sharing your day with us!

Tanya + Greg :: The Esession!

Sometimes I get emails from people who follow the blog accusing me of only working with really good looking people. I know, my couples are ridiculously good-looking, but it’s not my fault! They’re also ridiculously adorable, hot, saucy, and a lot of fun. Don’t hate — it’s just how I roll

Tanya + Greg are all of the above — *ridiculously* good-looking, and two of the sweetest people ever. They’re getting married tomorrow at the Beach, followed by a reception at Balzac’s Cafe (aka my second home). Can’t. Wait.

Oh, and if you’re wondering if maybe Tanya was born with it, or maybe it’s Maybelline, it’s actually Ivy Lam! Check her out – her hair and makeup skills are out-of-this-world!

Normally I won’t shoot in the Distillery District where these first few shots are taken, but Tanya + Greg’s vibe and outfits really worked with the old-fashioned trucks and the textures of the brick.

Natalie + Emir :: The Wedding!

Natalie + Emir were married on July 17 in a beautiful ceremony at the St. Lawrence Hall in downtown Toronto. The Hall is one of the often overlooked gems — I can’t get over how stunning it was. Speaking of stunning, Natalie + Emir are HAWT. I hope these two have babies because they have some good looking genes to pass on. See what I mean ::

Emir’s father passed his treasured Fender Strat onto Emir a few years ago. What better motif for the awesome ring shot?!

One of my favourite groom-prep shots ever!

After hanging with Emir and the boys, we sped over to Natalie’s house only to find that she was still at the salon. No problem — I spent some quality time with her amazing dress.

Babygirl is all grown up

Are you starting to see what I mean about gorgeous? They’re gorgeous. I repeat :: gorgeous.

Natalie’s last few moments as a single girl…

They did it!! I love this candid shot!

We had tons of time for photography — it was one of the most important parts of the day for Natalie + Emir. We ended up shooting at 8 (yes, eight!) different locations. It was a lot of work, but so worth it. At the end of the day, what do you have from you wedding? Your spouse, and your photographs. It is so worth spending the time to create amazing images.

This next shot was by special request of the bride. Classic mirror shot.

We spent some quality time in the Distillery District, drank some espresso, made some magic. (P.S. I love Balzac’s.)

We finally rounded-out the portrait time at Natalie’s Godmother’s home in Rosedale. What a beautiful property.

After a stunning meal, these two crazy kids were ready to cut the cake, and get their party on!

Liz + Nick :: The Acadia Wedding

Every once in a while I am contacted about a fabulous destination wedding that I simply can’t refuse. If you’ve been following the blog for a while, you will already know that the East Coast of Canada is one of my favourite places on earth. PEI and Nova Scotia are two of the most beautiful spots on the globe, and I count myself so lucky to have been invited to shoot a number of weddings in the Maritimes over the past few years.

One area of the East Coast that holds a special spot in my heart is Wolfville, Nova Scotia :: the home of my Alma Mater, Acadia University. Liz + Nick met and fell in love at Acadia, and decided to go back to where the magic began to say their I-Dos. From the weekend spent in residence (that was a trip down memory lane!) to the service in the old Acadia Chapel, to the old undergraduate anthems on the dance floor, Liz + Nick’s wedding is one to remember.

Liz + Nick seem to like each other a lot. They like each other so much that all I had to do was stick them close to each other and take photographs of them in their natural completely-in-love habitat. They made my job easy!

I’m not sure what Liz was saying to her bridesmaids, but there wasn’t a dry eye in the house!

Robin + Rob :: Wedding Slideshow Extravaganza!

Confession :: I’m pretty much in love with Robin + Rob’s wedding. If I could marry a wedding, become its wife, and live happily ever after — this is the wedding that I would marry because I know it would treat me oh-so-well. I think once you take a peek at this slideshow, you will probably want to marry Robin + Rob’s wedding too. So many laughs, great friends, and an absolutely beautiful couple. Ah-mazing.
