Jen + Mike :: The Dreamiest of Dreamy Weddings

Jen + Mike. Truly two of the loveliest, most charming couples I’ve ever had the pleasure to shoot. These two were married on November 7, 2009 at Heintzman House in Thornhill, ON. Anyone who knows Ontario knows that November generally isn’t the prettiest or warmest of months, and I was decidedly nervous about Jen’s idea to shoot in the nearby forest. Not only did she want her and Mike’s portrait session to be outdoors, but the family and bridal party formals as well. Eep! To up the ante, she and Mike rented a beautiful fainting couch and borrowed a Persian rug to decorate the scene. The portraits were happening outdoors come rain, snow, sleet, or hail. I was terrified.

The fateful day arrived. I awoke on November 7 to temperatures well above seasonal and a beautiful sunny sky. The day was perfect. There couldn’t have been a better wedding to finish my ’09 season.

Tanya + Greg :: Getting Ready!

Tanya + Greg are the two hotties featured a few weeks ago here for their engagement session. You blog-readers loved their e-session so much that I’ve decided to give you plenty of Tanya +Greg’s wedding. We start today with the preparation.

I am often asked whether the bride and groom should finish getting ready before I arrive to start my photography. My answer is always ‘no!’. The prep part of the wedding day is my absolute favourite time! It gives me time to shoot all the little details including the dress, the rings, the accessories, and of course the special moments that often occur during this time between the bride and her mother and her girlfriends — as well as the quiet moments of transformation from ‘regular every-day self’ to ‘bride’. It’s a pretty big deal, and I love shooting during this time.

Tanya + Greg got ready separately, but we had time that day to visit them both. The amazing Ivy Lam was on call with her arsenal of magic makeup and hair products. Ivy is amazing – check her out if you are in need of a make up artist and/or hair stylist.

Liz + Nick :: The Acadia Wedding

Every once in a while I am contacted about a fabulous destination wedding that I simply can’t refuse. If you’ve been following the blog for a while, you will already know that the East Coast of Canada is one of my favourite places on earth. PEI and Nova Scotia are two of the most beautiful spots on the globe, and I count myself so lucky to have been invited to shoot a number of weddings in the Maritimes over the past few years.

One area of the East Coast that holds a special spot in my heart is Wolfville, Nova Scotia :: the home of my Alma Mater, Acadia University. Liz + Nick met and fell in love at Acadia, and decided to go back to where the magic began to say their I-Dos. From the weekend spent in residence (that was a trip down memory lane!) to the service in the old Acadia Chapel, to the old undergraduate anthems on the dance floor, Liz + Nick’s wedding is one to remember.

Liz + Nick seem to like each other a lot. They like each other so much that all I had to do was stick them close to each other and take photographs of them in their natural completely-in-love habitat. They made my job easy!

I’m not sure what Liz was saying to her bridesmaids, but there wasn’t a dry eye in the house!
